The plans and procedures addressed in this official publication released by CСS shall be developed in full accordance with the actual provision/arrangement of the vessel's relevant equipment; the Guidelines that have been provided by the IMO within the MSC.1/Corc.1447 are to be taken into consideration when preparing the plan, as necessary.
These plans should very clearly identify all shipboard equipment that is intended to be utilized for person recovery and all measures that shall to be taken in order to get the risk to crew members directly involved in recovery operation minimшzу to the possible level. LSA and any other type of equipment carried on board ships may be used during of the lifesaving operations to remove people from water, even if such equipment is used in unconventional way. The initiation of the recovery operations of their continuation is to be solely at the discretion of the vessel's Captain.
The plans and procedures mentioned above shall be considered as a part of the ship's EPP (emergency preparedness plan). This booklet is intended to give the shipping industry all necessary references for complying with all applicable requirements of the international conventions that is why its content shall be studied carefully and instructions followed.
