Short instructional animation showing how the separators work. Will be useful as a supplementary material to the theoretical resources. Here is the brief description of the separation process - Separator with bowl, drive, feed and discharge. The separation process takes place in the rotor.

A large clarification area in comparison to sedimentation by gravity is realized by conical discs and high g-forces. Ribs beneath the distributor accelerate the product. The product is fed into the rising channels and split up over a large number of disk interspaces. Due to the higher density the solids stream against the conical discs and slide to the solid holding space. The separated solids collect in the solids holding space.

The periodically activated sliding piston opens a gap for discharging the accumulated solids. The sliding piston closes hydraulically and the solids holding space can be filled up again. The clarified liquid streams to a central discharge channel towards the centripetal pump which is stationary and the liquid rotates. The clarified liquid is discharged under pressure through the discharge line...
