The present CCS Guidelines provide readers with all relevant technical requirements for the issuance of the IMSBC Certificate of Fitness for Carriage; it may also be used as the reference source for the ship designers and builders, various controlling and inspecting entities, cargo handling operators, when implementing the IMSBC Code. These Guidelines have been developed on the basis of the requirements which have been already listed in SOLAS Regulation II-2/19, chapters VI and VII as amended by IMO Res. MSC.269(85) and further define the specific requirements that shall apply to the issuance of the above stated certificate for cargo vessels. They apply to all of the vessels requesting issuance of the IMSBC Certificate. It shall be noted as necessary that the transportation of solid bulk cargo must be carried out in full accordance with all relevant provisions of the Flag Administration and any competent authority concerned; same applies to the issuance of the certificate. In the opening part of the book providing general instructions, the classes of dangerous goods are explained. The other parts list the requirements, survey and certification matters, there is a table of minimum requirements, enhanced safety measures for transportation of cargoes prone to liquefaction, and some other supplementary information.
