   Ten years ago, the author of the present publication began work on a special issue of Transportation Research E. The topic of subject the research was called "Global Logistics." There were to be papers on Logistics in all sectors of the world industry, and on flows between the regions involved. That topic did come to pass; the special issue was published. The author of the book did note, that the best of the manuscripts were published at that time, after helping those authors to revise. However, it was quite naive to expect the international balance he had sought, without soliciting articles from researchers in various specific geographic areas. And that was how the idea of this edited volume was born...
