   The present publication is released by the CCG (Canadian Coast Guard) in collaboration with other Canadian regulatory entities with the intention to assist ships that are operating in all Canadian waters (including Arctic waters) and to provide Masters as well as all watchkeeping crew of ships transiting Canadian ice-covered waterways with proper understanding of the related regulations, hazards involves, available shipping support hazards and navigation techniques. Five chapters of the book provide the summary of the guidelines and regulations for ships transiting ice covered waters, give some information on the weather environment and Canadian ice, address the main operational considerations as well as passage planning and navigation procedures, and provide some basic info on marine engineering, ship hull and auxiliary systems for ships involved in the operations in ice.
