The compact guide to the major accidents occurring on ships and associated preventions and safety measure, released by MarineInsight team. All seafarers want to work safely with no hurts or injuries. However, even of all necessary precautions have been taken, unfortunately accidents are still bound to happen. Recently, several safety and security related regulations have been implemented but again human error continues to remain a major contributor to the accidents.
The authors of this guide tried and made an effort to improve safety of the crew members through minimizing the effects of the accidents. Ten chapters of the booklet cover the main types of accidents commonly occurring on board ships, starting from the MOB, i.e. man overboard, accidents associated with the entry into enclosed spaces, electricity related accidents, explosions that happen in shipboard machinery, accidents happening during mooring operations, falling from height, accidents that sometimes occur during the lifeboat testing, hot works, falling from pilot ladders and gangways, and finally such critically important accidents as those associated with fires on board. We highly recommend every person working or planning to work at sea to go through all chapters.
