The content of the present handbook has been originally produces to provide the ship radio operators with all required technical information and data they shall use when performing their everyday duties. Prepared and released by the specialists of the AMS, standing for the Australian Maritime College, this useful source has been treated as a recommended textbook to be used by the candidates who are planning to undertake the exams for the MROCP and MROVCP. All applicable requirements and established procedures contained in the present volume are mainly based on the IRR, i.e. International Radio Regulations, that are formulated by the ITU on provisions that govern the utilization of the radio transmitters in Australia plus on the radio-station license conditions outlined in the ACMA. It is essential and critically important to carefully observe all of the procedures addressed in this volume to reach to the efficient communication exchange in the field of maritime communication, and in particular, the cases where the safety of human life at sea in involved.
