The book addresses the stability of structures, which is one of the most interesting and important fields in mechanics. The present publication covers the fundamental concepts as well as methods and associated problems together with qualitative understanding of the phenomena of structural instability. The authors of the book included all latest theoretical and experimental studies on the dynamic and static stability. As a result, this work presents the recent achievements and provides readers with the necessary knowledge on bifurcation theory and sensitivity analysis, novel closed-form solutions, study of pre-/post-critical behavior, analysis of singularities of the stability boundaries, structures optimization under various stability constraints, stability analysis of multiparameter linear periodic systems, etc. All methods described in the book arevery constructive and can be easily implemented in computer programs. The very recent experiments on the dynamic stability of non-conservative systems are also presented here and are illustrated with a number of photographs for easier understanding.
