The authors of the present publication addressed the navigation with a pilot which - in fact, this is referred to as one of the key resources for navigator when approaching the harbour and entering. The presence of professional pilot is extremely important for safe harbour navigation and is often required by local regulations. The pilot is not actually a bridge team member, but he always remains one of the most important bridge resources. He is an advisor to the ship's Master, however the Master still retains all responsibility for the ship safety, except for Panama Canal and Suze Canal where pilot have been given full navigational responsibility.
