The purpose of this publication called BMP - Industry Best Management Practices - is to assist vessels to avoid, delay or deter possible piracy attacks off the Somalia coast, including the Arabian Sea are and Gulf of Aden. The application of the recommendations contained in this booklet will make a significant difference in preventing a vessel being a piracy victim. The extent to which the guidance provided in this book is followed, will always have to be at the discretion of the Master and Ship Operator.
