According to the numerous reviews collected throughout last century, this classic work one of the best textbooks on marine meteorology. It is considered culturally important and should be deservedly treated as part of the knowledge base built by our civilization. Originally released a century back, the content of the publication still remains true.

The marine meteorology itself depends on international efforts and each of the maritime nations devotes some portion of their public funds to the research and investigations in the subject field. The book starts with the introductory chapter describing what the term meteorology means and how the meteorological science shall be used by the navigators.

The second chapter is devoted to the instruments that are commonly used for the meteorological purposes at sea while the third one is dealing with the meteorological log books. The next several chapters of this book are covering the air/sea temperature and atmospheric pressure, wind-force scales, salinity of the sea water, winds including hurricanes and cyclones, ocean currents, synchronous charts, icebergs, snow and rain and many other weather phenomena. In addition to that, the author of the work has also covered ocean weather forecasting and other important aspects.
