This excellent historical account by "Tank" Nash is about one of the less glorious days in the long history of the Royal Navy. It describes a chain of disasters, which were completely avoidavle, that took place in January 1918 when elements of the Grand Fleet were transiting the Firth of Forth to conduct exercises in the North Sea, In the ensuing chaos five collisions took place, with the loss of two submarines and 104 officers and men. It was a national tragedy, which was kept under wraps for many years, but now the full archive files are available and the horror of that day is revealed.
