The ultimate goal of the present publication by Jonathan Dull was to explai the background as well as course and results of the wars between French and British, and the causes of the British triumph, in particular. The author, who is one of the best naval historians, uses ships of the line as the measure of strength of the country. The book offers a perfect introduction to that period of Anglo-French Wars. The greatest strength of this publication is the vivid and clear prose of the book.
