The main intent of the GMDSS Handbook is to provide all interested persons with thorough and detailed explanations of the major technical principles upon which the whole system is based, as well as the operational performance standards plus the method of operations/procedures for the huge number of radio services forming the System, including the Master Plan, in a single and very comprehensive publication.
The Handbook is presented in .chm format allowing for much easier search and navigation while maintaining small size of the file. Apart from the main content, there are eight annexes providing additional information, such as the relevant MSC and COM circulars, GMDSS Master Plan, excerpts from various radio regulations directly relating to GMDSS, general requirements applying to the radio equipment, COSPAS-SARSAT, WARC-Mob-87/WARC-92 regulations, and a wealth of other valuable information and system data.
