|D O W N L O A D|
This is the second part of the multi-volume training course presented by Seagull AS for the computer based learning, and this part is devoted to the general ship safety. The course is intended to help trainees identify that the provisions of the ISM Code seek to improve the management on board ship and at sea with the ultimate goal to reduce the number of accidents that are caused by the human factor.
It will also show that a poor cargo loading or ballasting techniques, when combined with the heavy weather or corrosion can eventually result in the total lost of the ship - the trainees will know how to avoid such situations. They will also get to know and understand the correct planned maintenance procedures and operational techniques to apply them and avoid any failures of the ship systems. The course is also covering the factors normally increasing the risks to the ship safety in connection with the navigation and communication techniques.
The main types of marine pollution have also been dealt with and particular attention has been paid to the provisions of the MARPOL convention and relevant annexes. In short, people who satisfactorily complete this module, will get much better understanding of all factors that contribute to the general safety of their vessel.
