The second prepared having non-technical people in mind. Unlike the first volume, A Non-technical Overview, which was dealing with the hardware of the industry, this one is a continuation and here the author focuses on the software. The content of the publication addresses such critically important areas as the ship operations and relevant international regulations governing them, financial matters, shipbrokerage, ship chartering etc.

There are sixteen chapters in this volume. The opening one is dealing with the shipbrokerage including organization of the activities, cargo brokerage, and consultancy and research services. The next chapter is devoted to the S&P for the new construction projects and for the ships in operation. The following two chapters deal with the single voyage and time charters, and then we will move to the ship operations including all major international conventions, standards, rules and established practices.

Oil pollution prevention is addressed in a separate chapter. In addition, Flag State and Port State Control are also covered together with the Classification Societies. Particular attention has been paid to the operating costs which have been dealt with in detail.
